2014 Antica Napa Valley G & G Soracco
Antica Napa Valley 2014 G & G Soracco is a made from Muscat d’Soracco grapes that are now planted on the Antica estate. The vines were originally propagated from the single vine that was nurtured many years by Soda Canyon neighbor, Giuseppe Soracco. Giuseppe and his brother, Giovanni, brought the original vine cutting to their Napa Valley property many years ago from their homeland, Chiavari, near Genoa in Italy. In 2014, the warm days full of bright Napa Valley sunshine allowed for a natural drying of the grapes to the sun as the clusters remained on the vine. The grapes were harvested at 30 degree brix. The resulting juice had a wealth of freshness and concentrated aroma. The wine has a bright amber- yellow color. The aromas are of apricot and peach along with the sweet sensation of dried figs and honey. There is a considerable amount of complexity on the palate brought about by the perfect balance of sweetness, flavor, and freshness. Bottle size: 375 ml.

2013 Antica Napa Valley Pinot Noir
Pinot noir grapes for Antica Napa Valley’s Estate bottling were harvested on September 19th and 21st at an average Brix of 24.2. The 10 acre vineyard block selected by the winemaking team is planted to a mix of Dijon clones 115 (~33%), 777 (~33%) and 667 (~33%). The estate’s lowest elevation (1,450 feet) is on the floor of Foss Valley, which typically is above the fog that blankets Napa Valley below in the early morning hours throughout the summer months. This is home to our Pinot noir grapes. Though it might seem counterintuitive, nighttime temperatures are cooler here than the estate’s higher elevations, contributing to the Pinot noir’s aromas and flavors while maintaining acidity for the proper balance in the finished wine.
Vinification: The 2013 Pinot noir was entirely destemmed and sorted on the crushpad. Then the grapes were allowed to cold soak for 3 days at 55 degrees in our smallest stainless steel fermenter. When the cold soak was complete, the must was inoculated and brought to a fermentation temperature averaging 78 degrees. The wines were pumped over 3 times per day for the first 4 days of fermentation, with fewer pumpovers and delestage techniques employed after the must reached 15 Brix. The total time in vat for the 2013 Pinot noir averaged 12 days. The must was drained and pressed at 0 degrees Brix. The wine was allowed to settle in stainless steel tank once it finished alcoholic fermentation before being racked into French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and elevage. The 2013 Pinot noir remained in barrels for 7 months on its light fermentation lees before being racked into tank for bottling in May of 2014.
Taste: The 2013 is comfortably Pinot noir, with Bing cherry, plum and brambly fruit aromas. The wine offers a palate-cleansing freshness and the tannins are present but silky and a plush texture. It has presence and character, and is medium-bodied and offers elegance rather than power on the mid-palate. There is very little oak influence, allowing the wine and the Estate vineyards to shine through and offer a unique perspective on Pinot noir when grown in the Atlas Peak District of Napa Valley, a rather little-known mix of variety and location.

2016 Antica Napa Valley Fossino Rose
The 2016 Antica Napa Valley Fossino Rose is perhaps the best yet, offering aromas of raspberries and strawberries. The color is pale pink, belying a medium-bodied and creamy texture. On the palate, the 2016 Fossino is bone dry with a refreshing acidity.
